2010 has started with a bang as I started the year by doing a campaign for MTV and Nordea. As soon as I got back to Stockholm from the beautiful northern Sweden I had 13h shooting-day at MTV in Stockholm. The campaign will be coming out soon and I will be posting it here.
Now I’m all up in two documentary projects. This weekend I’m off to do some more interview’s with Lena, a former drug addict that I’m doing an animated documentary about. The story is starting to take form, and during the spring I should have my first edit of the movie. Read more about the project here: http://blog.vonwallstrom.com/?p=485
I’ve been busy researching a documentary that has been in my mind for a couple of years now. It all started with a lecture film a couple of years ago. I was documenting a workshop called relationship week, it addressed how to get out of a destructive relationship. It’s an all women’s group and I was privileged enough to be filming in the discussions of about 20-30 women with different destructive pasts. Most of them had been addicted to narcotics or alcohol for many years and was both trying to change their habits of addiction and destructive relations.
The woman that holds the responsibility for the relationship week is called Lena. She has come clean of an 17 year old drug addiction. In six years she lived with a man that abused her. She was close to taking her life when no one took the violence in her relationship seriously. Finally she was admitted to the psyche and came into contact with a therapist.
The documentary is about Lena and her life story. It’s a really interestning story about a woman who has lived outside society’s norms in many years. Her life experience of poverty is enormous. Despite this, she managed to turn her life into something positive and today she’s trying to improve substance abuse treatment in Sweden.
Next week I will do my first days of shooting with Lena. The project will become an animated documentary. It will be really interesting to see a life story with a lot of authenticity combined with animated storytelling. More information about the project will be posted regularly.
So today it all begins. It’s my first blog entry. It the blog I’m going to show what I’m working on and at the same time document it.
Who am I? I’m a 26 year old artist from Sweden. I mostly work with photography and film.

Yesterday we finished editing of our short film, it all went really well. The project started almost two years ago and soon it will be finished. Johan Serrander who edited the movie is a genius. The small changes that he could see made the whole difference in the end. We love him for that. More information about the film can be found at www.fantasticstudio.se. Last week we sent it to the Gothenburg Film Festival. Our goal is to squeeze ourselfs in the “Novellfilmssatsning” as a joker. We’ll see how it goes.
Other than that I’m working on three documentary projects.

Since last month I’ve been following a group of opinion makers from the middle east. It’s been great. They all went to a program that the Swedish Institute held for them. It’s called the Young Leaders Visitors Program. I’m producing/directing/photographing/editing the documentary. More information about the program can be found here: http://www.si.se/ylvp
TAKE ME TO SWEDEN
A couple of weeks ago i also jumped on another project for the Swedish Institute. It’s about Swedish electronic dance music and has been in the making for over a year now. It will be a 50min documentary distributed on dvd by the Swedish Institute. I’m helping the production company Wreck Creative Studios (www.wreck.se) to film about 20 minutes of the documentary. It should be finished before 2009.
LENA
The third documentary is a animated one. It’s about a recovering addict who has been struggling with her addiction to narcotics for over 20 years. Today she’s clean and is running a recovering home for women in Sweden. I started the project by creating a dvd of a lecture that she held. Today it has evolved to a documentary that will be animated to be able to recreate the strong storys of the past that she has. During 2009 I will be capturing material and trying to finance the animation. Stay tuned for more information.
